Galapogas Islands
Only a short flight from the coast of Ecuador sits the magnificent Galapagos Islands.
The waters are calm, the sun is shining and you know from the moment you step onto your ship, that you are in for the trip of a lifetime. With ships hosting between 16 and 100 passengers only, the intimacy onboard is complemented by the Naturalists and Botanists who share their knowledge and experiences.
The 19 islands and surrounding marine reserve have been called a unique ‘living museum and showcase of evolution’. Ongoing seismic and volcanic activity reflect the formation of the islands and these processes together with the extreme isolation has led to the development of unusual animal life.

- swim and play with sealions off the back of your boat
- step over hundreds of marine iguanas and bright orange Sally crabs piled on top of each other on rocks whilst walking along the coastline
- watch the mating rituals of the blue footed boobies (a crowd favourite in the Galapagos) - the males dance for the females, lifting up their legs to proudly show off their vibrant blue feet, before craning their necks, arching their backs and opening their wings, emitting a rather shrill whistle.
- walk amongst giant tortoises - their legs and feet are so thick and squat it almost defies belief that they can lift their great mass off the ground and walk
- vie for the best position on the beach for a sunbake as the resident sea lions also like to have a swim and bask in the sunshine
- Climb to the summit of Bartolome Island for your postcard moment. The beach at the foot of
- Pinnacle Rock is also a superb place for snorkelling with the diminutive Galapagos penguin – the only
- wild penguins found north of the equator.
