Japan
Japan is one of the most unique countries in the world - its timeless culture and ancient traditions are fused with vibrant modern living conditions bringing to life this incredibly diverse country.
Cultural traditions such as Tea ceremonies, Cherry Blossoms, Onsens, Sumo, Origami, Anime are found everywhere, both in major cities and small towns and their traditional Ryokan housing (Japanese inns), where you sleep on futons and tatami mats, provide a true insight into their way of life.
The food in Japan is extraordinarily good – from one street to the next, from within the train stations or from a hole in the wall shop, you cannot have a bad meal….and if you’re after a quick meal for the train or to take back to your accommodation, 7-11 have amazing food on offer. You will discover as you move around the country, the cuisine has great regional variations and each prefecture has a specialty worth tasting.
The ease of travelling around Japan trumps any other country in the world. The train system is seamless, the bullet train experience is fabulous; and the local networks are equally as efficient and clean. The network covers the whole country and the Japan Rail Passes offer great value.
What is not to like about Japan – a country that is suitable to visit at all times of the year. The Cherry Blossom Festival is in March/April/May brings millions of tourists into the country each year (dates vary each year). With over 600 ski resorts in Japan, Japan has established itself as one of the world’s top destinations for winter enthusiasts with a wide selection of resort options and some of the deepest, driest powder snow on earth.
