This beautiful region of the world sits at the southern tip of South America, covering both Chile and Argentina. It has an almost surreal quality to it – the rugged and diverse countryside is dotted with fields of wildflowers, undulating hills, spectacular blue/green lakes as well as glacier fields as far as the eye can see.

If you want to hike then head for the Torres del Paine National Park to experience truly magnificent forests, mountains, waterfalls, lakes and stunning views of the Southern Ice Fields. There are hikes of varying distance and difficulty, so staying within or close to the park gives you ample opportunity to get out and explore.
A stay in Patagonia can also be combined with a fabulous 4/5 day cruise through the Chilean fjords – start in Chile and end in Argentina with the enviable stop of Cape Horn (the southernmost tip of South America) on the journey. The cruise is full of breathtaking scenery and wonderful shore excursions. It is a fabulous option for those not able to travel to Antarctica.
